Here we go again.... black folks are going to make me disown them again and start telling folks that I'm dominican or something else I might be able to pass for.... usually I will give us a pass for doing dumb shyt, but this has gone TOO far....

has anyone signed up for www.niggaspace.com yet? Yeah, you read that correctly, niggaspace... myspace for niggas... and supposedly a "nigga" (not niggER) developed this damn site.... but at the same time, I don't think any black folks will sign up to be a member, just niggas!!!!

Parents, we need to start teaching our kids about hygeine... sure they know to take showers, wash their face, brush their teeth, and comb/brush/style their hair... those are the basics.... but hey, some of them don't know one simple thing.... WASH YOUR CLOTHES!!!! I don't care how clean you are, if you put on some dirty a$$ clothes, you just canceled out that shower of yours.... and remind them that wet wipes aren't just for infants... You keep shopping at the dollar store and Wal-Mart for toilet paper and you might cut yourself…. Better save your own ass…. Literally!!!! Besides, I can’t speak for the ladies, but a grown ass man should not have streaks in his underwear over the age of say…. 10? Once you reach double digits, you gotta get with the program… but 10 is even stretching it…. get it right!!!!

Now, onto the music scene.... I'm not a big fan of Jim Jones new song "We Fly High (Ballin)" but I noticed something the other night during NBA Opening night (besides the fact that my Lakers are going to be a problem, more on that later).... They were playing that song during the Miami Heat championship ring presentation and I'm like, yo, this song is going to be big, especially due to basketball.... next time you hear the song come on, listen to the hook (chorus, people) and tell me you don't see that song being used in highlights on espn all year long! Big ups to Jim Jones for that one!

And speaking of the Miami Heat, it brings up another discussion my fellow basketball fans and I have discussed in the past:

earl barron has an nba ring... michael doleac, jason kapono, dorell wright, & wayne simien join him as well.... I know you are probably wondering "WHO?"
that's life in the NBA for you.... patrick ewing, charles barkley, and domonique wilkins don't have one.... stockton and malone never got one.... but earl barron has one? Now, no disrespect to any of the mentioned names above... I mean, you're in the nba, so obviously you have the talent to make someone's roster..... but dag.... ain't that some crazy ish to think about? Then again, Mike Penberthy got one with the Lakers back in 2000 and I KNOW hardly anyone remembers him... lol

Last but DEFINITELY not least, if y'all aren't already going peoples, y'all need to start going to church.... Myself included, I've been slipping, but I'm going to make a serious effort to go..... I mean, first and foremost, we all need to recognize that we have a superior spiritual being making all of this possible.... and I don't care what denomination you are (unless of course, you're a devil worshipper, but then, if you are, this blog ain't for you!), as long as you believe in something, you're cool with me.... and... (y'all know I gotta keep it real)

Aren't church social events the best place to meet some women? Some of the best social events you can go to are at churches….. and some of the finest women you will meet you’ll meet at church! Ever think about that? Y'all better start paying attention!!!!

Lakers are looking to go 3-0, the Chicago Bears are looking to go 8-0, this is a good sports week for me... and with that, I'm ghost....

I had an epiphany today, or some of you may call it a brain fart..... but I was talkin to my big sis (okay, she's my godsister, but she been in my life forever, so... she's my big sis, damn it....)... and the topic of druggies came up (not going to get into how it came up, just know that neither she nor I are users..... users are losers and losers are losers.... now, stop distracting me and let me finish!) and i had a thought.... a thought I have been having and sharing for a long time:

If you have cable, you should NOT EVER want to use drugs.... but then I thought about it.. I'm an 80's baby... we had the "ABC After School Special"

WTF happened to that shit?

What happened to G.I. Joe and the message they had at the end of the show where they told you how to put out a fire or how to cross the street and said "Knowing is half the battle?"

Naw, now all we have are video games that kill and let you bone hookers in back alleys (with no condoms) and tv shows like "Beef: The Series" and "BET Uncut" (thank God they took that off... I mean, I'm a grown man and know not to be influenced by that, but when my 8th grade students come in talking about that.....)... and the list goes on and on and on.... buffoonery on tv.... rap lyrics that have no motivation (and yes, this includes T.I.'s song by the same title)

I know I'm going to piss some people off in a couple of seconds, but, hell, that's what I do.... I grew up on "Self Destruction" , "Fight The Power", "F*ck The Police", "JIMMY" , "Be A Father To Your Child" , "Express Yourself" and we actually danced....

Nowadays we have "I Get High All The Time" , "Booty Poppin" (yeah, I love the video, but let's be real here) , "Tip Drill" , "Shake Ya Ass" , "Chicken Noodle Soup" , and damn it if I have to "lean wit it, rock wit it" to EVERY damn song on the radio now.... i mean, damn... there are like 10 songs that are specifically for that dumb ass "dance"

Where did we go wrong? Did hip hop die with Biggie and Pac for real? I mean, sure, Pac said Thug Life, but he had a deeper message behind it... The Hate U Give Little Infants F*cks Everyone..... N*gga to him was Never Ignorant Getting Goals Accomplished..... but today we just have a bunch of Thug Life N*ggas with no message or direction.....

Boxing is down as a sport because people don't fight no' mo' all they do is shoot..... you can't even get mad at someone anymore and whoop their ass cuz they will come back and try to shoot you....

Side note and very random but needs to be said: Fellas..... STOP DOING THE DAMN DUTTY WINE!!!!! back to our regularly scheduled program...

And you know what's REALLY sad? Truly, truly sad? I'm 29 years old..... turn 30 in April (the 11th for those coming to the Dirty 30!).... and I have students HALF my age that drink MORE than me.... and we're not talkin fruit punch and hot chocolate here.... We're talkin Bacardi and Henny..... wait a minute.... I forgot that I teach 8th grade..... yeah... LESS than half my age.... scary, ain't it? These are our future leaders....

I forgot what comedian said it, maybe Chris Rock, but we need a new black leader... someone that will tell it like it is.... Kinda like how Bill Cosby did about a year or two ago then black people wanted to get mad like he wasn't telling the truth.... Just cuz he was Cliff Huxtable for 8 years doesn't mean he didn't know what was really going on.....

Ice Cube said it best on his "Death Certificate" album intro when he simply said, "Niggas are in a state of emergency...." That was in '93..... 13 years later, we are still in a state of emergency..... I might have to holla at Cube so we can collaborate and remix that album... cuz it all applies to today just as much as it did back then....

We still need to "Fight the Power" since "Self Destruction" is still amongst us everday. The youth of today need to not "Pass the Dutchie" but instead get a "Funkin Lesson" and stop acting like "Crumbs on the Table" cuz eventually "Love's Gonna Get Cha.." Yeah, the love of guns, money, and immediate gratification and not working hard for what you get and seeing LONGTERM goals vs. a quick fix.... you can't just put a band aid on the problems of today.... we all need to listen to some Brand Nubian and "Wake Up" cuz, to take the title of another great album, "Amerikkka is Dying Slowly..."

Yeah, I said it.... I'm in love.... but naw, don't get your hopes up..... there are no wedding bells.... DJ ROC is not getting married..... but I am in love.....

Yes, the invention of lactaid milk has become my new love people!!!! I just made a glass of strawberry quik for the first time since I've been self diagnosed with lactose intolerance and it tastes GREAT!!!!! For all of you who grew up on Quik and Strawberry Quik like me know what what I'm talkin about.... those of you who didn't... you better go to the grocery store RIGHT NOW... yeah, you'll be in love to.....

Now, on the opposite of things, my new love of the moment is only here to comfort me in my recent loss of watching "The Wire" this week.... some jack ass at HBO decided to say, "hey, we know our show is the best thing on the planet, so let's take a week off!" Idiot....

It's funny, I'm watching the LAKERS vs. clippers game on TNT and they started booing.... it had me thinking back to last night... i was at the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors game..... all the fans were booing cuz Lebron James didn't pay.... now is where I make my point:
People, its PRESEASON!!!! Now I know some of y'all paid like $150 to sit courtside, hell, I paid $120+ for two tickets myself (big shout out to Pops who rolled with me), but hell, I'm a basketball fan.... I was just happy to see my second live basketball game.... but come on now, did you REALLY think that the guy who just signed a mega million dollar extension was going to play back to back "this shyt don't count" games? Yeah, Lebron didn't play, but neither did Larry Hughes, Donyell Marshall, or Chris Bosh..... but T.J. Ford did.... Shannon Brown did... hell, the #1 overall draft pick did... (I can't spell his damn name, so I'm not even going to try.... spell check won't even work on that shit!)... but next time folks.... do your research.... and remember, when you see preseason next to it, you just MIGHT realize that the person you came to see (unless its Damon Jones, or, Amon Ones as we like to call him.... more on that later) might not play.....

Random joke of the moment.... my homeboy calls Damon Jones "Amon Ones" because he said when he got to Cleveland, he had no D(efense) and no J(umpshot)...... yeah, I had to dumb it down for the non regular basketball fans, but y'all should get it now and be laughing your asses off.... go ahead.... like Redman said... if you don't get it..... laugh now...... and then figure it out when you get home!!!!

Speaking of Redman.... what the hell happened to him? where is he?

And speaking of Redman, who is a Def Jam artist.... how come the only artist we hear about on Def Jam is Jay-Z? I thought he retired? yeah.... and so did Too Short.... and Master P..... and Michael Jordan..... twice..... but whatever....

Oh yeah, as I continue to sip on this lovely big ass cup of Strawberry Quik, I reminisce on childhood memories of the good old days..... and today was a memory of those sometimes not so good old days... Parent Teacher Conferences.... yeah, a lot of you may not know.. DJ ROC is a teacher to!!! gotta pay the bills but why not pay them doing everything you enjoy?

But anyways.... I said that to say this.... Public Service Announcement time: Parents.... Bring ya asses to Parent Teacher Conferences!!!!!! The only parents that came to night for me were the ones who's children have A's and B+'s..... I need to talk to some of those parents who have children with C's, D's, F's and also the ones that NEVER come to school... well, I won't say never, but 3 days out of 6 weeks of school is some bullshit..... and I digress....

Students.... children.... stay ya ass off the corner and get ya ass in school.... if you have cable tv you should know that drugs will make you look like Bubbs on the wire and hustlin will get you shot like Stringer or locked up like Avon.... read books!!!!

okay, I'm coming to the realization that my recent flare ups of back spasms are probably the result of my once sexy physique obtaining the current gut that I sport with my 3 piece suit..... yeah, I need an elliptical (I got bad knees to!).... so let it be known.... that check after next..... DJ ROC is getting an elliptical.... and no, for all you bandwagon cornballs that are going to say, "is DJ ROC bringing sexy back?" First off, I don't like Dustin Timberfake, so please, enough with that wack ass song..... and Second.... I'm DJ ROC... Sexy never left!!!!! Y'all fools better recognize!

It's the weekend, and I ain't doing a damn thang but cleaning up and praying that my grandmother's house isn't seriously damaged.... yeah, it caught on fire down in louisiana, but thank the Lord she is up here in NY living with us..... but damn.... electrical fires are NO JOKE..... I guess things happen for a reason, but damn..... what part of the game is that?

Well, I'm gettin old, my body is sore, and I gotta be at work tomorrow..... its going to be crazy.... its a Friday..... its the end of the first marking period... and I know students are going to be doing EVERYTHING in their power to turn in those missed assignments.. and they BETTER!!!! I don't want anyone failing my easy ass class.... I teach Computer Science!!!! Come on now.... Microsoft Office isn't hard and my students are far from student.... they're just lazy at times...... but that's why I must depart... to rest up so I can put my educational foot in their ass tomorrow....

Well, the NBA Season is finally underway and I'm happy as hell, cuz being that my Yankees were ousted from the Playoffs, baseball season is over for me! Let's keep it real, I'm a YANKEES fan, not a baseball fan, I won't even lie.... once the Yankee season is done, I stop watching..... can't say the same for football and basketball... I watch til the end because I'm a true fan of the sport, however, we all know its about the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Lakers!!!!

Basketball is still in preseason, so I'll focus on Chicago..... we have the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football...... 6-0, nuff said!!!!

Speaking of sports..... look, I'm tired of seeing Cialis, Viagra, and Enzyte commercials 57 times a day talkin about 36 hour working time and erections over 8 hours...... 8 hours? are you serious? you trying to kill yourself? as we move on....

Does anyone have the same sleeping problem as me? I get up for work at like 6am, don't get home til like 5:30pm and I'm tired as all hell.... yet I still can't fall asleep til 1am..... WTF? Anybody have any suggestions?

Random out of the blue thought: Am I the only one who hates that Justin Timberlake "Sexy Back" song? I don't like the concept, I don't like the lyrics, I don't like the beat.... yet, being a dj, I have to play that song EVERY weekend... the trials and tribulations us DJ's must go through....
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the official DJ ROC Dirty 30 party is coming up in April..... the only problem is, I have NO idea what to do or where to do it! I have to do it big though... you only turn 30 once!!!! and I haven't had a real birthday party since like I turned 21..... I did some thangs for the 29th Birthday, but gotta go hard for number 30! Shout out to all who held me down at the happy hour (R.I.P. Steven Harrison) and also Inebriated Putt Putt Miniature Golf and Pool Night!!!! I may have to keep the latter as part of the weekend..... hmm.... lol

Well, another school year has begun and I must say that I'm enjoying it thus far..... all my students are great, I just hate working the In School Suspension room.... why do students think that is the cool place to be? So sad....

Okay, for those of you who know me, y'all know that besides sports, the only shows I religiously watched were HBO Shows, i.e. The Wire, Entourage, The Sopranos, and most recently, Big Love, and Lucky Louie..... but this year, regular television has made a comeback.... so get your DVR's ready because if you aren't watching any of the following, you are TRIPPIN!!!! Friday Night Lights, The Unit, Smith, Heroes, Six Degrees, Grey's Anatomy, 24, CSI (all of them), and Lost..... and no, I didn't sell out, I still give props to Cuts, Half & Half, All of Us, Flavor of Love (y'all know y'all stay watchin it!), & Wild 'N Out (only for Katt Williams, Corey Holcomb, & The Wild 'N Out Girls... sorry, but Nick Cannon is wack.....)

I will say this.... New York has a lot of nerve to diss the South, yet only to put out that dumb a$$ chicken noodle soup song...... Harlem, sit down..... It's the holiday season....

And it is cold as H-E-Double Hockey Sticks in the ROC!!!! I mean, sure, all of the northeast may be getting blizzards and tons of snow, but is it as cold as it is here? We're talkin about that cold that just makes you cuss for no reason.... you walk outside and just be like, "Well damn!"

Something that recently made me say, "Well damn!" was the last episode of Making the Band 3 when the Diddster aka P. Diddy picked his 5 member girl group band.... you know, the next version of the band that will sell no records but make Diddy a lil bit of money.....

And an update on the Diddy vs. The LOX pt. 2 saga..... Diddy gave the LOX back their publishing!!!! Looks like the LOX retirement is just about over!!!!

I said it before and I'll say it again.... is "The Boondocks" the realest cartoon on the cartoon network or what?

Well, back in the house and this is probably my final destination as far as blogs go (until I end up eventually posting this on www.roccityentertainment.com v2.0 coming soon) Y'all know I had to get the quick cheap plug in there! Just wanted to big up everyone who missed me for all these months after i blew up on George Bush not liking black people (yeah, I agreed with Kanye) and all the flood drama that went on in New Orleans...... well, I'm here to be the first to let y'all know....

I'm headed south for Thanksgiving!!! That's right, hittin up Lousiana for Thanksgiving and Houston for the Bayou Classic!!!! It's a much needed vacation cuz a brotha has been HELLA busy.... I'll get to why in a sec...

but, before I dip off to da durty durtay, gotta show some love to my region one NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) people cuz I'm hittin up the Region 1 FRC this weekend in Stamford, CT to DJ yet another one! We're going to do it real big as usual, so, like Young Jeezy would say, "Let's get it!"

Speaking of which, am I the only one who thinks Jeezy looks like Ving Rhames?

As I move on, the reason I stopped posting on myspace is because a brotha added another job... yep, for those of you that don't know, I've been teaching computer science in the Rochester City School District since September and I have to admit, I love it.....

I mean, on one end, I can say I'm still living out the NSBE mission, but at the same time, the vacation time is lovely!!!! I don't even need to take vacation, I just get it!
